Your reflection really opened my eyes to viewing the articles in a new light, this is because I too come from a Sikh background. I however failed to make the connection between the Islamic figures and Sikhs ones. This is probably due to me being so conditioned to seeing Sikh portraits that I began to think of them as being the norm. That is why I found it very interesting that although the Sikh religion does not condone idol worship, it does however take offence when something is done to deface it. It’s quite fascinating how visual representation can embody such life and evoke so many emotions in people.
